Incident Action Plan Use Guide
Create, Manage, and Publish Incident Action Plans
The Incident Action Plan (IAP) Solution helps planning teams develop, coordinate, approve, and publish Incident Action Plans for each operational period. Rather than creating plans from scratch for every incident, you can create reusable templates, update them as incident conditions change, move them into a working plan for collaboration, and publish completed plans for operational use.
This guide walks you through the complete Incident Action Plan lifecycle using the standard IAP boards. Follow the topics in the order below to create an IAP template, prepare a working IAP, finalize and publish the plan, and view or print the completed Incident Action Plan.
Follow this workflow
-
Create an IAP Template: Create a reusable Incident Action Plan template by defining the operational period, selecting the ICS forms to include, and assigning responsibility for completing each form.
-
Update and Send an IAP Template to Working: Refine the template, configure branches and divisions, attach supporting documents, and send the completed template to the Incident Action Plan (Working) board for collaboration.
-
Update and Publish a Working IAP: Complete the planning process by updating forms, tracking completion status, obtaining approvals, collecting signatures, and publishing the Incident Action Plan.
-
View and Print an IAP: View the published Incident Action Plan and generate a printable version for distribution to incident personnel.
