Account Import Template
As an administrator, you can create accounts in bulk by importing the account information in a comma-separated values (CSV) file. You can access a template for this information on the Accounts page.
To import new accounts to the solution, download the Account Import template, update the template file with information about the new accounts, and upload the updated file. Use the template to format and structure the information in your CSV file for import.
Download the Template
The template contains a header row with column titles that correspond to accounts names, account statuses, and contact details. The template also includes example data, showing you the type of data to include in each column. Remember to remove or replace the example data before uploading the CSV file.
Import Guidelines
Follow these general guidelines to import accounts.
-
Required fields are indicated by an asterisk (*) in the template.
-
Fields left blank in the CSV file don't overwrite existing data.
-
Enter [Delete] as a field value in the CSV file to clear data.
-
Field values contained in the CSV file overwrite existing data.
-
Download the template and use it to structure the account information.
-
Empty leading spaces in any field are disregarded.
-
Duplicate email addresses and phone numbers are disregarded.
-
Empty rows are disregarded.
-
Data that matches existing account fields is disregarded.
-
The EMAIL column contains account email addresses, not contact email addresses.
-
Separate multiple email addresses and numbers for voice calls, pager notifications, and texts with a semicolon.
-
Save and upload your data as a CSV file.
Validation Results
After you import the CSV file, if there are errors, you can download an error report about the file you tried to import.
Import errors occur when the file has missing or incorrectly formatted data. Some errors, like duplicate row entries, present as errors but are automatically corrected and uploaded. However, the solution rejects imports when they don’t meet the following requirements.
-
All records have at least a first name, last name, email address, and account status.
-
All records have correctly formatted data; for example:
-
Email addresses are in the name@example.com format.
-
Phone numbers should be in +19999999999 format.
-
Pager numbers should be in 9999999999@example.com format.
If your import fails, download the file’s error report to learn more about the errors, and then correct the errors in the original file. Then, try importing the data again.
